Lists of about 8800 physicians across 300 metro areas, with 3 to 5 doctors (each) shown for alzheimer's, asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, breast cancer, depression, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic pain, osteoporosis and arthritis medical care. Created by the private firm Qforma, with USA Today newspaper. A little unclear how those listed were selected from the full 30% of specialists nationwide would otherwise qualify to be on the list. Influential related to patient volumes and implied referrals from other doctors. No details of credentials. Qforma sells the full list to corporate clients. Published October 2010

Baltimore Top Doctors 2008 (Maryland)

Baltimore Magazine Online shows their list of Top Doctors 2008 in the greater Baltimore area. Readers will need to check credentials and ratings through other sites linked at Consumer Health Ratings. Top 1 to 5 doctors in 70 specialties, including pediatric subspecialties are listed. Selected by physicians and an expert panel; no details on methodology. Nov. 2008

Dallas Best Doctors, 2009

List of 729 physicians in 40 specialties - nearly every common service except Pediatrics. Click on COMPLETE LIST to see all those selected, not just those with sponsored links on page 1. Choices were based on a survey of local physicians by D Magazine in Dallas, TX. No mention of how many doctors responded to the survey, and try to ignore the reference to all docs as "he". Oh well. Minneapolis St. Paul Best Doctors for Women 2008

Minnesota Monthly's 2008 list of 258 top physicians for women in the Twin Cities (MN) Metro area. Listed by 25 specialties such as OB-GYN (filed under G for General), Oncology (cancer care), Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Cardiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Geriatrics, Pulmonology and more, based on a Nov. 2007 survey of doctors in a 7-county region. New York's Best Doctors - NYC Metro Area only - New York Magazine, 2009

List of 1107 top physicians in 66 different specialties, for the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Whether you're looking for the best cancer specialist, the best eye doctor, a general surgeon for that gall bladder, a pediatric specialist (13 pediatric specialties) or a top psychiatrist, this list is one resource to identify the top two or three percent. Information is brief, such as training, hospital affiliations and board certification. It would be wise to verify credentials before you decide. Seattle Magazine selected 381 best doctors in the greater Seattle area, based on a Castle Connolly survey of physicians. Extensive list of specialties including Internal Medicine, Family Practice Medicine, Cancer Specialties, Cardiovascular care, Dermatology, OB-GYN, Gastroenterology, Hand Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Pain Management, Pediatric Specialties, Surgery and many more. Survey received 3500 WA nominees. Published July 2010
